Geordie
Geordie
Geordie kits are the cheapest way into brewing your own, and they have been around for decades. Each is a single 1.5kg can of hopped malt extract, made in England by Muntons under the Geordie name, with the yeast sachet and full instructions under the lid. Add 1kg of sugar and water and you have 40 pints for less than the price of a round at the pub.
Geordie kits require a kilo of sugar and make a lighter bodied beer than all malt kits, but they are honest, reliable beer at the price — and swapping the sugar for a Beer Kit Enhancer firms them up nicely. About a week to ferment, ten days or so in the bottle or barrel, and you're pouring.
The beers we stock:
- Bitter — traditional well-hopped bitter with a rich nutty flavour; deep amber with a full head.
- Yorkshire Bitter — lighter in colour with the slightly sweet taste of the best Yorkshire beers; creamy head, full body.
- Scottish Export Bitter — deep golden, full bodied, with a rounded taste.
- Mild — dark mild with the traditional fuller Northern taste; smooth head, rich deep colour.
- IPA — light, hoppy English IPA with a refreshing bitterness and a smooth malty finish.
- Lager — light and refreshing with a tangy continental taste; serve straight from the fridge.
